Artissima 2023

The 30th edition of Artissima will feature specific initiatives confirming its uniqueness on the European cultural scene and its ability to attract the most interesting galleries, artists, collectors and curators worldwide, while maintaining its strong identity as an experimental and research fair.

The theme chosen for this year’s edition is “Relations of Care”: inspired by a recent essay by Brazilian anthropologist Renzo Taddei focusing on indigenous Brazilian thought. The concept identifies and proposes care as the ultimate goal of knowledge and as the matrix of all relationships within communities. And art is undoubtedly a tool capable of fostering relationships of care and dialogue.
The event, which takes place in the Lingotto Oval, is highly articulated and divided into these sections:
– Main Section: gathers the most established galleries on the international scene.
– Monologue/Dialogue: reserved for emerging galleries and/or those with an experimental approach who intend to present a monographic stand or dialogue between the works of 2 artists.
– New Entries: is the section reserved for the most interesting emerging international galleries, with less than 5 years of activity, for the first time at the fair.
– Art Spaces & Editions: dedicated to galleries and non-profit spaces presenting editions, prints and multiples by contemporary artists.
– Present Future: dedicated to emerging talent, preferably under the age of 40.
– Back to the Future: presents monographic projects by pioneers of contemporary art whose work played a key role in the history of art. The section welcomes works made from 1950 to 1979 and pays special attention to practices developed in marginal contexts.
– Drawings: presents projects conceived as solo exhibitions that enhance the authenticity and autonomy of the work on paper.
