Gregory Crewdson: Eveningside

From October 12th to January 22nd Gallerie d’Italia will host the large exhibition “Gregory Crewdson. Eveningside” dedicated to the internationally renowned American photographer and master of staged photography.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is the world premiere of the new series of photographs with the same title ‘Eveningside’, the third and final act of a trilogy spanning ten years of work. Crewdson’s trilogy started with “Cathedral of the Pines” (2013-2014) and “An Eclipse of Moths” (2018-2019). In contrast with the solitary and lonely forests of Cathedral of the Pines and the gloomy post-industrial landscapes of An Eclipse of Moths, in Eveningside the photographer explore the theme of human figures isolated in mundane situations where the atmosphere recalls the cinematic genre of noir and black-and-white photography.
