The exhibition dedicated to Mimmo Jodice is the second chapter of the project “La Grande Fotografia Italiana” (“The Great Italian Photography”) launched in 2022 with the exhibition of Lisetta Carmi. It is a tribute to the great masters of Italian photography that also includes the involvement of another artist alongside the chosen author: in this case Mario Martone, a celebrated director and author.
Born in Naples in 1934, Jodice approached photography attracted by its ability to create visions: a refined and intimate process that feeds on his memories in a city like Naples, blazing and secret.
The exhibition offers a significant synthesis of Jodice’s production, tracing the main inspirational themes of his art in as many sections of the exhibition, “Anamnesis”, “Languages”, “Views of Naples”, “City”, “Nature”, “Seas”, through 80 photographs made from 1964 to 2011.
