The “Duca degli Abruzzi” National Mountain Museum, established in 1874, is a cultural center dedicated to mountains. The museum consists of an exhibition area with temporary exhibitions, a permanent exhibition area, a documentation area and a panoramic terrace.
Panoramic view of the Alpine region
The “Vedetta Alpina” and the “Panoramic Terrace” are unique locations that offer a fascinating view of the city skyline and the 400 kilometers of the Alpine arc: their location allows an unprecedented glimpse of an extraordinary panorama in which city, hills and mountains coexist.
Located a few meters from the Church of Santa Maria al Monte, the Terrace is a place to be experienced from morning to sunset.
The telescope positioned in 1874 at the Capuchin Mountain, displayed on the ground floor of the Permanent Collection, is now replaced by the modern panoramic binoculars of the Vedetta Alpina, adjacent to the Terrace built in 2005 on the roofs of the Museum. A corner full of charm and sublime romance accessible with a special ticket of 3 €.
